Meaning | Causa per accidens is occasionally used in complementary pair with causa per se {1p16c1} {3p15} and causa efficiens. Propositions {{3p16}, and {4d05} use "emotions contrary by accident" as complementary to "emotions contrary by nature". It seems that a partial cause r is a causa per accidens if it occurs necessarily as part of set A of things forming an adequate cause but there are other, usually many, sets B that each are adequate causes for the same effect and r is not necessary in all sets B. |
