Cas To The Mainland
Blessings of Civilization
On the 21st of May sunset we entered Entebbe's East
bay, observed by Maarten, who took a host of dhow photos that I turned into an
animation
Suddenly we got fed up with Banda. I had an interview with Dom, with pen and paper, and the result was this: K'la Restaurants A. Late night return from beach to dhow. Philemon, rear, after his first three hours of sleep...
Same personnel, after some royal curries at 4 Points Entebbe, and a decent load of dry white wines from a home-filled under-table cooler
Interesting cross-cultural combats d'honneur between Philemon and Cas concerning who should sit on the second deck chair led to me having comfortable foot-support
Our Huawei D100 battle: waiting for our friend 李赟
[contination of
D100 story] 李赟 told us that
Hewett International Limited, through
Amazon internet shopping, had sent us to Uganda a D100 router
locked for an English provider called "3", who probably gave them away for free
to its new customers. He said he could not unlock it (which we did not believe),
but was ready to exchange it for an unlocked version, which worked!, so to our
regret our MTN modem did not have to be unlocked. We realized we could not ask a
Huawei man to confess he was able unlock it let alone persuade him to do it for us, but
there is a growing number of internet sites claiming to know the procedure and
have the software. We hope to break out of the MTN prison soon!
Just hours after posting a one star ("aweful") feedback on Amazon we got a call
from Hewitt UK gently massaging us into getting it off. The representative
claimed that we should have read "compatible with 3" as "only compatible with
3". He sounded quite sorry and unhappy, yes, in distress, so we decided to make
his day and offer to erase the feedback. Though we do not know if they are going
to change anything, this event greatly enhanced our confidence in the Amazon
internet purchase system! Just for this feedback valve one might consider even
to buy a little more expensive through Amazon products that could be purchased
directly from the seller's web site!
