Test trip
And Some Binoculars Pictures
Though off Jinja, we have internet signal on our aerial so this web upload and
email is right now at 13:41 hrs right from the spot you are seeing down here. We
are doing a test trip. Out halyard winch allows us to be a novelty on Lake
Victoria: an 18 m dhow with 3 crew only.
Photo: captain decided to share his binoculars with his camera
Photo: binocular picture of a village we passed an hour ago. Bare camera lens picture in upper right hand corner
Photo: Philemon, nervous from the start for the 3 crew
test, wanted to stop after 1 mile for a cloud he judged threatening.
I disagreed meteorologically. After 2 miles his nerves were a stand alone reason
to stop. So I resigned. No rain storm arrived.
Photo: See the small farm under the tree. Nice life but hard work!
Photo: camera snap through binoculars
Photo: Doi (foreground) and Philemon tie the sail with wet banana leaves. After hoisting, the leaves will break under a sharp pull and the sail falls open.
Finally, do not miss the bird, that we later identified as a Pied Wagtail, exploring our deck. Unaware of its temporary character, it immediately started to sing its territorial claim. Click here for picture with song.
