About Evelyn Waugh

Evelyn Waugh (1903-66) was a Englishman of financially modest background integrating in English society with agility. He was totally ridiculous, that must have made it easy: bisexual, radiating flavours of anti-Semitism and Italian fascism, even turned himself into a Catholic. Walked around with the air of a king (but unfortunately without kingdom). Spent a large part of his life travelling. By default his books are boring mannerism, you know, the stuff suitable to mould successful cinema. But Black Mischief is an exception.
